Autism & Neurodiversity Services
At the Lieber Recovery Clinic, we specialize in supporting autistic adults (ages 18 and older) with low to moderate support needs who are verbal. We provide evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming interventions that promote collaboration throughout the treatment process and center an understanding that autism presents uniquely in each individual.

Jac Den Houting is an award-winning scientist and researcher who works to combat stigma and increase awareness of mental health in autism. Jac was diagnosed as autistic when they were 25-years-old, and experienced a great deal of clarity and self-understanding when learning about what that meant. In this talk, Jac talks about their own experiences as an autistic, LGBTQIA+ person, what neurodiversity means to them, and why autism is not a “tragedy”.
Comprehensive and personalized treatment is the key to success, and we offer the following evidence-based interventions:
Skills Training: We offer training in social cognition and social skills, as well as neuro-cognitive remediation.
Group Therapy: We offer CBT, DBT, and ACT, as well as other groups to explore neurodiversity, gender identity, and sexual orientation.
Educational and Employment Support: We offer individual supported education and employment coaching.
Organization and Life Skills: We offer CBT for executive functioning to support participants’ organization and execution of daily tasks. We also offer individual life skills coaching, in accordance with the Association for Autism and Neurodiversity's Life Management Assistance Program (LifeMAP).
Family Services: Working toward recovery is a demanding process that requires not only the hard work of the participant but also the care and support of those around them. We offer supportive counseling, parent coaching, and family therapy to support family members in best supporting their loved one. Through our family services, we aim to make the therapeutic process more efficient and personalized.
Care Coordination: Participants meet at least monthly with a neurodiversity-affirming therapist to work towards their individual goals, ensure an optimized treatment plan, and support interdependence in the community.
Social Clubs: We offer free social clubs (i.e., board game club, music club) so participants can gain access to community and practice social skills in a supportive environment.
Our clinicians have extensive experience providing care to transgender and nonbinary patients. Our approach addresses the unique challenges that come with the intersection between neurodiversity and gender diversity.
