Supportive Education and Employment

Many adults with severe mental illness experienced disability onset in early adulthood, causing interruption of their educational and vocational plans.  Supported education and employment programs are evidence based treatments that help people get back to school and work.

Supported employment facilitates entry into competitive work environments by providing ongoing support services to obtain and keep a job. Our Employment Specialist provides assistance with resume building, interview skills, and on site work performance.   Research indicates that the provision of on-going support services for people with psychiatric illnesses significantly increases their rates for employment retention.

Supported education services include sessions on career planning and vocational assessments, assistance in obtaining school-based disability services, self-awareness, stress management, time management, rights and resources of people with disabilities, academic skill practice and development, and other support services. These services are provided in groups and individually.
